My internet has been spotty at best, I'm working a lot, I'm gone every weekend... so I apologize to all of you lovely people who have faved or commented or visited - because I definitely have not had the time or powers to reply to all of you.

Thank you for your support! And hey! 22K! Thanks!

Garments soonish...

Shop-O-holic!

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 17, 2008, 12:19 PM
I'm buying a house soon - I'm absolutely head over heels in love with some of the cute little bungalows and mid-century places here in my great little city. However, I'm definitely interested in looking at places in some of the little towns in the area. A big yard that looks off into the west with nothing between me and the sunset would be lovely - I really do miss living out in the country. My only stipulations for the house I buy are hardwood floors, a basement (for tornado protection... you think I'm joking?) and a garage.

Speaking of garages... I need one because I am also looking into buying a car. In fact, I swung by a little car lot on my lunch hour today to take a look at a really cool 4-door '54 Bel Air. Yep, I need to buy myself something happenin' to tool around town in - it will be a grand adventure. Most of the adventure comes from the fact that I'm going to be teaching myself basic repair and maintenance to actually try to keep up with my future beauty. I know the basic basics, but I really need to acquire some skills if I can even hope to have a cool car in the near future.

All of you car people who stop by and read this... any advice on how to jump in and learn? Is it more a matter of rolling up my sleeves and figuring it out as I go, or are there some good resources I should check out first? I'm a quick learner, and I have a pretty good grasp of mechanics as long as I have enough time to sit back and think about it... without my dad or boyfriend hanging over my shoulder making me self-conscious. Anyway, I definitely want an early to mid-fifties car of some sort, I’ve always been a big fan of ’56 Chevys and earlier Fords.

Yadda yadda yadda - it’s been a long coupla weeks!

Working on two great series with my good buddy Eddy Price -->

:iconeddyprice:

The series we're working on is rather massive, so I'm not sure if those will be up anytime soon, but in the meantime pay him a visit and see some goodies from his ongoing "Danger Rally" series - Hot cars and dangerous dames... what more could you ask for?

I'm doing all of the styling for both of these series, and they're coming to fruition slowly but surely.

Lindy Hoppin'

how I'm *slightly* beyond out of shape

Welp, I finally found someone in my swing club willing to go OUT and dance with me! Hales Swift, what a name, and a good dancer to boot. In fact we may just become dedicated dance partners - we're working on that. Having a dedicated partner means that one can actually pursue more complicated steps (aerial steps to be precise) without fear of breaking bones. I've done a bit of aerial work within my swing club, so I know what I'm doing... but again, one must have that partner who they know and trust before attempting anything like that. And by the way, aerial steps are a BIG no-no on the social dance floor - I know some of you hepcats and kittens out there have gone to shows and shown off a bit on your own, but just remember that kicking people in the face is never a good thing. Keep it to the jams and competitions, or when you're completely alone on the dance floor.

ANNNNYWAY - I just love dancing. I feel that I've been improving quite a bit, and my Lindy is definitely growing into something that is stylistically mine. I need to start running again or something, because I DO NOT have the stamina to dance all night long! I did fine tonight, but towards the end of the set I could hardly move. Then again, we danced to the Double A Daddies who play a brand of rock-a-hillbilly and honky-tonk that is rather fast-paced.

Wooo! I'm just happy to be back in the social swing of things!

The Rev.

Journal Entry: Wed May 14, 2008, 6:24 PM
Finally got to see the Reverend Horton Heat in the flesh! He is absolutely incredible live, my best gal pal Kat has seen him quite a few times, but this was the first time I had the chance to see him due to my crazy schedule over the past couple of years.

Anywho, he's amazing, the band is amazing, and the soundman was ALSO amazing. The crowd was great and very into the whole affair, which always makes a show more fun.

I made a massive dinner for myself and now I'm sitting around in my robe puttering about on the internet. I think I am going to work on the other bird for my Indiana jacket, the cardinal is DONE and looks great. I just need to get the blackbird done now.

Had a great photoshoot over the weekend with my good friend Eddy Price:

Yeah, it's been a nice week...

...and the weather is getting even nicer! Finally - no more coldness for a while I hope.

I've got a Craftster swap to work on. Clothes to make. Paintings to do.

I've become obsessed with 'Carrier' on PBS - anyone else been watching that? I watch it every night for a couple of hours now. Love it.

I also just purchased the brand new Dixie Bee-Liner's album, 'Ripe'. Visit them here --> [link] and follow the link to their myspace for a quick preview of their goodness. "Bugs in the Basement" just about killed me!

Oh hey, and I hit 20K! Thanks friends!
